    What is Remedial Massage?

    Remedial Massage, like Sports Massage,
uses traditional Swedish massage movements, together with more sophisticated
techniques - Muscle Energy Techniques, Positional Release etc. The
result is a comprehensive set of tools from which your practitioner
can deal with a variety of conditions and create the effect required.
The difference between Sports Massage and Remedial Massage is the emphasis:

    Remedial Massage looks to
help correct muscle imbalances and help deal with chronic problems

    Sports Massage has an emphasis
on maintenance, prevention of injuries and aiding recovery in sports
    participants.

    How does it work?

    Remedial massage can be
used to deal with a huge range of musclo-skeletal problems and is designed
to assist the body to heal. This can be by removing scar tissue or swelling
or encouraging release in chronically shortened muscles. Alternatively
it can be used to soothe, relax and calm. Remedial Massage helps to
rebalance the body both in a postural and circulatory sense to relieve
the chronic stresses causing you discomfort.

    Why HeadStart Massage for my
    Remedial Massage sessions?

At HeadStart Massage your therapist is
trained to look for the cause of your problems rather than just treating
the symptoms. A general massage will often help alleviate your symptoms
temporarily but without tackling the underlying imbalances the symptoms
    will return.

We take a holistic view to treatment
meaning that we look at the entire body for where the problem may be
arising together with discussing your lifestyle and habits. This allows
us to determine what is going on with your body and how to alter your
    habits to prevent reoccurrence.

    HeadStart Massage therapists have experience
in a wide range of conditions specialising particularly in chronic back
pain, migraines, shoulder impingement (or frozen shoulder), sciatica,
    tendonitis, and plantar fasciitis.

We also have developed experience working
with ME, Fibromyalgia and Post-Viral Chronic Fatigue sufferers. Often
individuals suffering with these conditions may feel that they have
run out of options with regard to improving quality of life. At HeadStart
Massage we have found that soft tissue work, manual therapy and massage
can be extremely effective at helping to manage these conditions. If
you have any questions relating to this please feel free to contact
    us.

    When should I have
    Remedial Massage?

    Remedial Massage -
Can be used at any time. When something is not as acute as an injury
but causes you pain or affects your daily life Remedial Massage is ideal
to help deal with these chronicroblems. This type of massage can be
easily used to help work with your current lifestyle and stresses on
your body whilst still creating a positive improvement to your health.
